Kindergarten- Frequently Asked Questions
1. What happens when my child arrives at
school?
Supervision
on campus begins at 7:30. Students arriving between 7:30 and 7:50 will need to
go directly to the Cafeteria or Gym. If
you drive your child to school, you may drop them off in the car line, which is
located behind the 4th grade building next to the playground. There will be staff members on duty to direct
your child to the gym or cafeteria. At 7:50 the Kindergarten students will be
walked down to the classroom with supervision.
Remember, the students need to be in their classroom at 8:00 am or will
be counted tardy.
2. What happens if my child is late?
If your child is late to school, he/she
must go to the office before coming to class. Students who are late must show
tardy slips to the teacher when they enter the classroom. If you need to sign
your child out of school early, you MUST go directly to the office. The office
staff will assist you in signing your child out, and then call over the
intercom to your child’s classroom to request that your child be sent to the
office to go home. Your child will be sent from the classroom with a set of
messengers. Please do not go to your child’s classroom, as teachers are not
allowed to let your child leave unless the office has called for him/her.
3. Where does my child go at the end of
the day?
TBD:
Changes coming soon
4. What do I do if I want to change my child’s method of departure?
If you ever need to change your child’s method of departure, please send a note to your child’s teacher. In your note, please specify what the change will be and whether it is just for today or a permanent change. If you need to change it at the last minute or end of the day, do not send an email. If it is after lunch and the teacher’s conference, she may not have a chance to check email before it is time to go home. Instead, please talk to someone in the office and have them call down to your teacher’s room and inform her/him of the change.

- Can I have lunch with my child?
You are welcome to have lunch with your child any time during the school year except testing days. First you must sign in as a in the office and then you may proceed to the cafeteria.
6. What is the dress code?
A complete list of all dress code requirements is listed in the Student Code of Conduct booklet you received in the beginning of the school year. Clothing should be comfortable for your child and cover their body. Your child’s class will go to P.E. twice a week. Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes on P.E. days. Also remember that we do not allow spaghetti straps, spandex, offensive shirts, or flip flops at school. We encourage our students to wear clothes and shoes that are easy to run and play in. Skirts should have shorts worn underneath. Please label all items sent to school such as backpacks, lunchboxes, jackets, or sweaters with your child’s first and last name.

7. Can
I celebrate my child’s birthday at school?
We
recognize birthdays during MNN and in the classroom. Due to state nutritional guidelines, parents are not allowed to bring cupcakes,
candy, or cake to school for the class. However, if you would like to celebrate
his/her birthday at school, please feel free to visit during lunch. If you would like to send invitations from
school, there must be one for every child in the class, or all
boys/girls. If you need more
information, please ask!
8. How do I contact my child’s teacher?
If
at any time you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact us by
writing a note, calling the office or through our email. A Parent conference is
held in October, please watch the folder for more information as it gets closer.
If you would like a conference at any other time, please feel free to contact
us.
9. What if my child is absent?
Please make sure your child is present
everyday unless he/she is ill and/or running a fever. When a student is sick, they may not return
to class until they have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of “fever
reducing medication”. To have an
absence/tardy/early pickup excused, a parent written/doctor's note must be sent
to school. If the child is absent more than 3 consecutive days, a doctor’s note
must be provided. Everyday your child is absent, the district loses
$33.00. Thank you in advance for using
absences responsibly.

How
do I volunteer?
We
love helpers!! Please see the parent volunteer sign-up sheets if you are
interested in helping at school or at home.
We will be contacting you to let you know how we can use your help as
soon as possible. Please remember that ALL volunteers MUST have a criminal
background check on file before being allowed to volunteer.
